It has been no secret that, since 2003, Nike’s merger acquisition of storied footwear brand Converse has aided both in the breadth of the ever-expanding Nike empire as well as the longstanding sustainability of Converse as a brand. The latest news out of Portland today comes with the announcement that Jordan brand will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of MJ’s game-winning shot in New Orleans that sealed a North Carolina national championship. Paying homage to the Converse shoes that Jordan was wearing that day, the 2012 Commemorative Pack includes an autographed pair of shoes in the customary North Carolina blue and white, as well as a signed Michael Jordan number 23 jersey. Limited to only 30 packs, each autographed pack will be sold via a special eBay auction with all proceeds going to benefit the James R. Jordan Foundation.- Hypebeast

EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA 2012 SUMMER COLLECTION!
Artisanal bandana prints, tuxedo blazers cut like motorcycle jackets, patchwork silk scarves, nylon anorak windbreakers – all are pieces that could only be brought together by one design house: Margiela. And, in fact, all are pieces that made their debuts during Maison Martin Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2012 runway show in addition to some less outlandish garments including exquisitely cut suits, marled v-neck sweaters, a subdued cotton baseball jacket and a slew of tweaked traditional footwear in leather and suede. Although the standard Margiela blacks, beiges and greys are all in full force here, the collection also included some unexpected pops of bright cobalt blue and vermillion. Always elegant and logo-free, the enigmatic Belgian design brand’s latest line of menswear is just as quirky and understated as expected.

23 year old New Orleans sensation Frank Ocean has garnered a lot of press recently from his association with the hip-hop group of the moment, Odd Future. The singer/songwriter has recently released the video for one of his solo endeavors – “Novacane.” On the track, Ocean sings about meeting and wooing a dentist-to-be over a smooth, pulsating beat. More important, however, is the visual accompanying the song. Staying true to the OFWGKTA tradition of quirky, slightly disturbing music videos – we see Frank Ocean’s face physically ebbing and flowing in the same way one feels when injected with novocaine at the dentist. The ending offers a fun surprise, as well.
